Passenger Pigeon

Jamin Waite

the butterfly’s face
(or whatever the hell
it’s supposed to be)
and aluminum wings
glide past like ducks in migration.
I’m a volunteer with this passenger pigeon.

Jamin Waite, Lexington, KY, is a senior in the Literary Arts program at Lafayette High School-School of the Creative and Performing Arts. Her works have been recognized by the Scholastic Writing Awards and included in the Young Women’s Writers Project 2016 Chapbook.
